Russia claims that its two-seat Su-57 jet will operate using onboard combat AI. Russia named this new twin-seat version the Su-57D. Engineers developed the plane to counter Western fifth-generation fighters. Nonetheless, the Russian fleet of Su-57 jets remains small.
At the same time, a small European country currently operates twice as many fifth-generation fighters as Russia. The difference in fleet size remains despite Russian efforts to install combat AI capabilities to the Su-57D. Simple Flying and MiGFlug reported on the modest fleet numbers alongside the planned artificial intelligence features.
